Mary N. Gaskill, 63

HANCOCK, Mass. —  On Saturday, May 23rd 2026 Mary Norah (Lyons) Gaskill joined all her angels in heaven after a courageous battle with cancer. In the hours prior, she was surrounded by her family peacefully at home just how she wanted it. She was born in Adams, MA on February 8th, 1963 to the late Thomas Philip Lyons and Laurette Celina (Levesque) Lyons. She attended grade school at Notre Dame School and graduated with the Class of 1981 from Hoosac Valley High School.  She later received her associate's degree in Early Childhood Development/Education.

She had various jobs throughout her life. Starting off in the bakery at Adams Supermarket, which is a passion that she would carry for the rest of her life. She was a daycare provider for many years and loved all the children who came through her door. Worked shortly for Adelphia and Greylock Federal Credit Union. That’s when she found that she could use her amazing creative abilities at the North Adams Transcript as Advertising Manager until closing. She then lastly worked alongside her husband Mark at Bob’s Camper & RV.

Her love for animals was shown by the way she spoiled all, including her beloved fur babies, Kane and Reid. Same with her love for baking that she shared for every special occasion or for no reason at all. Being in the kitchen was one of her happy places. She enjoyed family trips to the beach, long walks, camping, crocheting the most beautiful afghans, motorcycle rides, hikes to Mt. Crumpit, watching and helping raise her grandchildren, and when her children were younger, supporting them in all their activities such as volunteering for booster clubs one moment and the next being a personal horse groomer and farm hand. But above all, what Mary loved the most was being the best Mother, Nonnie, wife, sister, friend, daughter, aunt, and cousin she could possibly be, which showed through all aspects of her life.

She leaves behind her husband Mark Gaskill of Hancock, MA whom she married in 2013; her son Jonathan Rochelo (Cassandra) of Cheshire, MA, her daughter Alycia Rochelo (Paul Tanner) of North Adams, MA, her Step-daughter Madeline Gaskill (Andrew Augusta) of Hampstead, NH, her sisters Sandy Talora (Frank) of Cheshire, MA and Michelle Lyons (Nicholas Graham) of Hancock, MA, her childhood best friend Karen Barrow (Peter, Peter, & Paige) of Adams, MA, her beloved grandchildren who she cherished with all her heart-Paige Rochelo, Callie Rochelo, Roman Rochelo, Kolbe Tanner, Niko Tanner and Norah Tanner, her nieces and nephews Samantha Talora (Nick), Cayla, Patrick Filiault (Amy), Jennifer Nocher (Jason), Jeffrey Filiault (Evan), Alexandra and their children Kaylea, Hannah, Anthony, Paige, PJ, Charolette, Annabelle, and Joey. In heaven she joins her granddaughters Anna Ryleigh, Celina Jane, Paislee Leigh, Paityn Leigh, and Penelope Leigh, her Sister Sharon Filiault and nephew Michael Talora.

The funeral will be held on SUNDAY, JUNE 7th at 2:00 PM in the Hancock Baptist Church, 124 Main St. Hancock, MA. Friends may visit with Mary’s family on Sunday, June 7th from 1:00 PM until the start of the service, IN THE CHURCH. Anyone who wishes to donate, please donate to any animal shelter or youth sports organization of your choice in memory of Mary N. Gaskill. The PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, Adams, is in charge of arrangements.

To all the family-sorry for your loss
Mary was a childhood friend at Notre Dame
She always had a smile and never a bad word
To say about anyone. When I occasionally ran into her
In our community, she was the same. A kind soul, and beauty
Inside and out. We need more souls like Mary.

Mark and family,
I am deeply saddened to hear of Mary’s passing. She was one of the kindest people I have ever known. Mary never missed sending a card on a holiday or special occasion and that always made me feel good inside.
