Richard David Hartigan, 93, Revere, Massachusetts. died peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the home of his daughter Nora Hartigan Sacco and son-in-law and David Sacco in North Adams, MA. Richard was born in Revere, Massachusetts on August 28, 1933, the son of David and Nora (Clancy) Hartigan. He was a proud alumnus of Conception School in Revere and a graduate from Winthrop High School in 1951.

Richard was a Korean War veteran of the United States Navy, and was employed by British Airways as member of the ground crew at Logan Airport for over 40 years.

In 1958, he married his wife Janet A. (Middleton) Hartigan and the couple settled in Revere. His wife passed away on April 29, 2021. Richard was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church in Revere. He was a longtime New England sports fan (as long as they were winning). He loved sailing and spending time hosting family and friends for cook outs poolside at his home on True Street.

Survivors include his loving children Richard A. Hartigan of Ipswich, Patrick T. Hartigan of Winthrop, Nora F. Sacco and her husband David of North Adams and Terence M. Hartigan and his wife Kristin of Woodbury, NJ. He was the cherished grandfather of Garret Hartigan, Matthew Sacco, Stephanie Killeen (Adam), Nicholas Sacco, Steven Cornell, Casey Hartigan, Teagan Hartigan and granddaughter McKenzie Killeen. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Richard was predeceased by his wife Janet, and his seven siblings: George, William, David and James Hartigan; Teresa Motherwell, Catherine Martikke and Mary Rahilly. The family wishes to thank his dedicated hospice staff, especially Richard's nurse, Julie, and PCA Lori. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday October 2, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. and Winthrop Ave, Revere), at 11:00 A.M. Calling hours will be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow with military honors at 1:30 p.m. at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park.
