Mr. Francis Shortis

Mr. Francis Shortis, 69, of 730 South Main Street in Sheffield, died on Sunday, January 28, 2001 at Fairview Hospital, following a short illness. Born on July 25,1931 in Templeton, Massachusetts, he was the son of Albert and Celia Robillard Shortis. He attended local schools in Templeton. A U.S. Army veteran of the orean War, Mr. Shortis moved to Great Barrington following his discharge in 1953. He moved to Sheffield in 1960. Mr. Shortis was employed for over thirty years as a supervisor at Sheffield Plastics. He also drove tractor trailer truck for Watta Crete Company In Canaan, Ct. At the time of his death he was employed by the Ormsbee Bus Company in New Marlborough as a school bus driver. Francis was a member of the pitch league at Shea's Restaurant in Sheffield and enjoyed working around his home. His wife, Anna Shortis, whom he married on July 25, 1953 died on June 1, 1993. Survived by 1 son Kevin F. Shortis of Mechanicville, New York, 2 daughters; Kathy A. Shortis and Kim M. Barnum both of Sheffield, and one grandson Edward Shortis. The family will recieve friends on Tuesday, January 30, 2001 from 4 PM until 7 PM at the Hickey-Roy Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at 11:OO A.M. from the Hickey-Roy Funeral Home and will be conducted by the Rev. Charles VanAudsall, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Great Barrington. Burial will follow at the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery In Canaan, Connecticut. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of the Berkshires through the Hickey-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230.
