William J. West

William J. West, 71, of 61 Revere Parkway died Wednesday evening at home. Born in Chicago on Oct. 26, 1929, son of Archibald and Catherine Quaid West, he attended schools in Chicago. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. West was employed as a supervisor for McDonald's Corp. in Pittsfield and Hadley, and for the Berkshire County area restaurants for 25 years. He retired in 1994. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed golfing, gardening, sports and history books. He leaves his wife, the former Anne E. Joyal, whom he married Oct. 20, 1972; a son, Michael West of Worcester; two daughters, Rosemarie Stevens of Cantoment, Fla., and Ann E. Palmer of Windsor; a brother, Thomas S. West of Simsbury, Conn., and two grandchildren. Funeral services for William J. West, 71, will be held Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, Friday, from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home. Mr. West is also survived by his two grandchildren, Samantha Stevens and Alex Stevens. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Murphy of Wilbraham, in 1990.
