M. June Platt

M. June Platt, 70, of 221 Orlando Ave. died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Abingdon, Va., on Feb. 12, 1931, daughter of Leslie and Mary Grace Lloyd Kestner, she attended schools there. She had been a resident of Pittsfield since 1950. Mrs. Platt was employed as a cashier by the former Kelsey Market, and later was employed for 14 years as secretary at the former Berkshire Mutual Insurance Co. She worked at Bardwell D'Angelo Bowlby Insurance Co. for 11 years, retiring in 1996. She attended Morningside Baptist Church. She leaves her husband, John F. Platt, whom she married March 5, 1949, in Norfolk, Va. Funeral services will be tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m. at DWYER FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Linda Shaw, pastor of Morningside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the funeral home today, Thursday, Feb. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. If friends desire, donations may be made to the Berkshire County Division of the American Cancer Society in care of Dwyer Funeral Home in her memory. Mrs. Platt also leaves several nieces and nephews.
