Karen Brown

Karen Lee Brown, 51, of 10 Union St. died Thursday at home. Born in Newton on May 3, 1949, daughter of the late Horace E. and Norma Kingsbury Dort, she was a graduate of Wellsley High School and the Cooley Dickinson Hospital School of Nursing in Northampton. Ms. Brown was a registered nurse at Carney Hospital in Dorchester for several years, retiring in 1989 due to ill health. She enjoyed reading and music. She leaves her partner, Robyn L. Brown of Pittsfield, with whom she resided; a son, Alexander L. Brown of Dalton, and a brother, Alden Dort of the state of Florida. A memorial service for Karen Lee Brown, 51, who died March 1, 2001, will be held Thursday, March 8, at 5 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, Mass., with the Rev. Charles Young, chaplain of Hospice Care of the Berkshires, officiating. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory may be made to Hospice Care of the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
