Charlesetta Carpenter

Charlesetta Delia Carpenter, 93, of Garfield Road died yesterday at Springside of Pittsfield, Mass., where she had resided since December. Born in Schodack Landing on Dec. 12, 1907, daughter of Charles and Charlotte Shurrager Oathout, she resided with Sarah and Albert Boyd as a foster child and attended Pittsfield High School. She had resided in Stephentown since 1926. She and her husband, Clarence C. "Doc" Carpenter, operated the Carpenter Homestead Farm until 1959. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of the Stephentown Federated Church and its Ladies' Aid Society, and a former church treasurer for more than 30 years. She was also a member and past master of the Taconic Valley Grange, and a member of the Unity Star Chapter 841 of New Lebanon and the Stephentown Senior Citizens. Her husband, whom she married Oct. 22, 1929, in Berlin, died Oct. 5, 1982. She leaves a daughter, Marjorie M. Schmich of Stephentown. Funeral services for Charlesetta D. Carpenter will be Saturday at 10 from HALL & HIGGINS FUNERAL HOME, 457 NY 43, Stephentown. Burial will be in the spring in Stephentown Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, Friday, from 4 to 7. Contributions may be made to the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department or the memorial fund of Stephentown Federated Church.
