Nellie V. Hewitt

Nellie V. Hewitt, 78, of 568 River Road died Friday evening at Williamstown Commons. Born in North Adams on Feb. 7, 1924, daughter of Anthony and Maskina Stevens Morin, she attended schools in North Adams. She was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for 44 years, retiring in 1989. She also had been employed by the former Pedercini's restaurant. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church in North Adams. She was a member of the Sprague Quarter Century Club, TOPS and Weight Watchers. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Her husband, John E. Hewitt, whom she married Nov. 1, 1947, died Dec. 12, 2002. She leaves a daughter, Sandra L. Shank of Clarksburg; a son, Frank R. Hewitt of Lunenburg; a sister, Genevieve Sarkis of North Adams, and four grandchildren. She leaves a daughter, Sandra L. Shank of Clarksburg; a son, Frank R. Hewitt of Lunenburg; a sister, Genevieve Sarkis of North Adams, and four grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Nellie V. Morin Hewitt will be tomorrow, Jan. 20, at 10:30 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, with the Rev. Robert Moulton, permanent deacon of the parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas in Adams, officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Clarksburg Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, Jan. 19, from 5 to 8. Donations may be made to the Berkshire County chapter of the American Red Cross or to the Eileen Barrett Oncology Center at NARH in care of the funeral home. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra L. and Randy Shank; a son and daughter-in-law, Frank R. and Sarah Hardman Hewitt; four grandchildren, Jessica Shank of Clarksburg, Christopher Shank, a student at Virginia Tech, Frank R. Hewitt Jr. of San Diego, and Hannah Hewitt, a student at UConn. A brother, Nave Morin, and three sisters, Martha Sarkis, Florence Lefebvre and Jeannette Sarkis are deceased. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and her family was the most important part of her life.
