Neil Philip Cain

Neil Philip Cain, 58, of 634 West Cross Road died yesterday at the Laurel Lake Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Lee. Born in North Adams on April 28, 1944, son of Joseph F. and Marjorie E. Clerc Cain, he attended the former St. Joseph's School and graduated in 1962 from the former St. Joseph's High School, where he was class president. A sergeant in the Air Force, he was stationed in the Azores and at Avon Park in Florida during the Vietnam War. Mr. Cain was manager for many years at Goodyear Tire and Service and its successor, North Adams Tire and Service, until his death. He also had been employed as front-end salesman by Smith Commercial Tire and Service Co. in Hudson, N.Y. He was first employed as a sales associate at the former Robert's Co. and as a salesman for Hart-Shaffner and Marx Clothing Co. He won several trophies for playing billiards. He leaves his wife, the former Lynda Marie Lanier, whom he married June 12, 1965, in St. Thomas' Church in Adams; two daughters, Lori Marie Lemoine of Granby, Conn., and Erin Colleen Morgan of McKeesport, Pa.; three sisters, his twin, Sister Natalie Cain of the Sisters of St. Joseph in North Adams, Ann E. Cain of North Adams and Marjorie Tisdale of South Paris, Maine; three brothers, Joseph F. Cain Jr. of Williamstown, Richard S. Cain of Adams and Christopher W. Cain of Phoenix, and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services to celebrate the life of Neil Philip Cain will take place Monday at 10 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial with military honors will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. In lieu of calling hours, a reception to celebrate Mr. Cain's life will follow the burial at the American Legion on American Legion Drive, North Adams. The family will greet family and friends at the family home on 634 West Cross Road, Clarksburg, on Sunday from 1 to 5. All are welcome. Memorial donations are suggested for the Women's House of Peace or the charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home. Survivors include two grandchildren, Connor Morgan and Dalton Lemoine, whom he loved dearly; two sons-in-law, Christopher Morgan and Larry Lemoine. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, friends, grandchildren and his dogs.
