Carl William Reed, 63, of 1 Alice Drive died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 25, 1937, son of Emily White Reed Adams and the late Carlos D. Reed, he had resided in Pittsfield and Lee before moving to Hinsdale 25 years ago. He attended Lee schools He served in the Navy. At the time of his death, Mr. Reed was employed as a bus driver for Dufour Tours, where he had worked for the past 30 years. He was a member of First Congregational Church of Hinsdale and a former member of the Hinsdale Lions Club and the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department. He collected Danbury Mint and other antique cars, and he also enjoyed fishing. Besides his mother of Cranston, R.I., he leaves his wife, the former Doris L. Adams, whom he married Sept. 17, 1955; three daughters, Deborah A. Martin of Hinsdale, and Bonnie M. Nichols and Doris L. LeDoux, both of Dalton; three sisters, Emily Torman of Cranston, R.I., Barbara Wisley of Ocala, Fla., and Mary LeDoux of North Kingston, R.I.; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Carlos D. Reed, who died May 4, 1984. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 15, at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 Main St., Dalton, at 11 a.m. with Michele Cijka, pastor of First Congregational Church of Hinsdale, officiating. Burial will be at Maple Street Cemetery in Hinsdale in the spring. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Reed leaves four grandchildren, Nicole Cornwell, Star Amber Reed, Heidi Lynn Reed and Lisa LeDoux, and three great-grandchildren, Desiree Reed, Brianna Reed and Destiny Reed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department in care of Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
