Doris A. Porter

Doris A. Porter, 92, formerly of 55 West Union St., died Sunday at Hillcrest Commons, where she had been a patient for three years. Born in Great Barrington on Feb. 5, 1909, daughter of Egbert V. and Mary Shufelt Damms, she attended schools there. She was employed by Hillcrest Hospital in the kitchen, then by the former Berkshire Hilton as a chambermaid, retiring in 1974. Her husband, Thomas Porter, whom she married in 1932, is deceased. She leaves three daughters, June Porter, Henrietta Karch and Marion D. Goodell, all of Pittsfield; nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 4 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, with the Rev. Willard Durant officiating. Cremation will follow. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 2 until the time of the service. If friends desire, donations are suggested to Alzheimer's research.
