Mrs. Gladys V. Caffrey, 72, formerly of Castle Lane, Great Barrington died Saturday, December 2, 2000 at Ormond Memorial Hospital in Ormond Beach, FL. She and her husband had been residents of Flager Beach, FL. Born June 28,1928 in Great Barrington she was one of three daughters of George and Esther Pratt Ames, she attended local schools. Primarily a homemaker, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She married Walter Caffrey June 28, 1947 at the First Congregational Church in Great Barrington. They had wintered in Florida for several years before making it their permanent home in 1991. Besides her husband of fiftythree years, she is survived by two sons; Robert M. Caffrey of Great Barrington & Richard C. Caffrey of Dalton two daughters; Jeanne Davidson of Great Barrington & Ruth Richards of Cape Coral, FL a sister; Helen Soldati of Great Barrington twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews She is predeceased by a son William J. Caffrey who died in 1991 and a sister Dorothy Heath. Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys V. Caffrey will be conducted Thursday, December 7, 2000 at eleven am. at the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home by Rev. Charles VanAusdall, pastor First Congregational Church. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 5, 2000 from four p.m. until seven p.m. at the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society of the Diabetes Foundation in care of the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
