Theodore Frank Blazejewski

Theodore Frank Blazejewski, 87, of 20 Second St. died early yesterday morning at North Adams Regional Hospital, shortly after being admitted. Born in Adams on Dec. 18, 1915, son of Frank and Aniela Potla Blazejewski Twardowski,he attended local schools. He was employed in the buildings and grounds department at Williams College in Williamstown for many years, retiring in 1979. Previously, he had worked as a gardener and caretaker at the H.B. Clark estate in North Adams. A well-known area musician, he began as a vocalist with the former Pete Biros Orchestra at St. Stanislaus Hall, where the region's first Polish music program originated in 1941. He then played bass and was a vocalist with several groups until forming his own polka group, the Ted Blake Band. He made several recordings with the Grammy Award-winning Jimmy Sturr Orchestra. After retiring from his band, he joined The Aladdins as a vocalist for over 11 years. They entertained at local nursing homes, church socials and senior events. On May 8, 1999, Ted and the Aladdins received the Judge Ernest Rosasco Humanitarian Award as well as numerous other citations from former Gov. A. Paul Cellucci and other civic organizations. Mr. Blazejewski was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and the St. Cecelia Choir at the church. He was also a member of the Polish National Alliance and the Adams Senior Citizens. He and his wife of 62 years, the former Phyllis B. Dabrowski, were married May 10, 1941 in St. Stanislaus' Church by the Rev. Edmund M. Kempinski. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Barbara Lillie of Adams; a son, Bernard Blazejewski of Rocky Mount, N.C.; three sisters, Katherine Kondej, Jennie Twardowski and Mary Misiuk, all of Adams; and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Theodore Blazejewski will be Wednesday at 9:15 from the AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research through the funeral home. He also leaves his son-in-law, Gary Lillie, and three grandchildren, Todd Lillie and Cheryl Siciliano, both of Adams, and Chad Lillie of North Adams. He was predeceased by three brothers, Mathew, John and Walter Blazejewski, and a sister, Sophie Blazejewski.
