Norman Leo Devio

Norman Leo Devio, 90, formerly of 16 Drossey Place died yesterday at Williamstown Commons, where he had resided for more than a year. Born in North Adams on May 29, 1913, son of Olyzan and Mary Lanoue Devio, he attended schools in North Adams, including the former Notre Dame School. Mr. Devio was employed in the GE power transformer division in Pittsfield, retiring in 1973. Before that, he had been employed with the Greylock Division of the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates, and the former Sprague Electric Co. He was first employed with the former Postal Telegraph. He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and enjoyed carpentry. While at GE, he was a union steward with the International Union of Electrical Workers local. His wife, the former Alma Angelina Zanett, whom he married Aug. 26, 1939, died June 12, 1998. He leaves two daughters, Mary Malloy of Adams and Louise Shepard of Adams; two sons, Norman Louis Devio of Hopkinton and John Leo Devio of North Adams; a sister, Rita Decoteau of North Adams; nine grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Norman Leo Devio will be tomorrow, Nov. 5, at 8:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. Funeral Mass at 9 at St. Francis' Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are today from 3 to 7. Memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice in care of the funeral home. Survivors include nine grandchildren, William Shepard, Cynthia Shepard, Roy Malloy Jr., Anthony Malloy, Normal Malloy, Allison Pike-Devio, Pamela Thomas, Michelle Thrain and Lisa Fortin. Eleven brothers and sisters are deceased.
