Joseph P. Siok

Joseph P. Siok, 86, of Newtown, Conn., formerly of Housatonic, died Wednesday at Harborside Glen Hill in Danbury, Conn. Born in Great Barrington on April 30, 1917, son of Marcel and Mary Zdun Siok, he graduated from the former Searles High School and the former Berkshire Business School in Pittsfield. An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 728th Railroad Battalion and participated in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. Mr. Siok was employed by the New Haven and Penn Central railroads and by Conrail, retiring in 1981 after 40 years of service as area manager of field terminals, Northeast Region. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8183 in Housatonic and the 728th Railway Operating Battalion Indianapolis Inc. Throughout his many years of retirement, Mr. Siok enjoyed playing golf. He and his wife, the former Aleacia Garvansites, were married 62 years. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Jo-Ann Nachajski of Springfield, Va., and Patricia Tallman of Danbury; a sister, Victoria Coleman of Atlanta; three grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this morning at 10:30 at Sacred Heart Church in Danbury, Conn. Burial will be in St. Bridgette Cemetery, Great Barrington. Preston Tallman; three grandchildren, Stephen Parzuchowski and wife, Linda, of Roxbury, Jennifer Lewis and husband, Jordon, of Centreville, Va., and Becky Linster and husband, Brian, of Danbury; 10 great-grandchildren, Michelle, Kevin and Nichole Parzuchowski, Bristol and Mallory Lewis and Matthew, Tyler, Caren, Marissa and Rachael Linster.
