Jean A. Croatti-Shohan

Jean A. Croatti-Shohan, 67, of Natick and Lee, professor emeritus at the Massachusetts College of Art, died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Boston and a resident of Natick for more than 28 years, she was the daughter of Gino and Irene Gaviani Croatti. She earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Massachusetts College of Art and a master's degree in education from Tufts University. She also attended Harvard University profession educational seminars. She taught fashion design for more than 30 years, retiring in 1998 from Massachusetts College of Art as department head. She had also taught at Chamberlayne Junior College and Fisher Junior College and was an instructor and mentor at the Oxford Academy for Gifted Children. Ms. Croatti-Shohan was a member of the Fashion Group International of Boston, the Costume Society of America, Tufts Alumni Association, Massachusetts College of Arts Alumni Association, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, National Honor Society, National Association of Men's Sportswear Buyers Inc., and the American Federation of Teachers, National Education Assocation and the Association of American University Professors. She leaves two sons, Douglas Shohan of Lee and Steven Shohan of Blackstone; a daughter, Linda Tonisi Brandt of Natick; a brother, John Croatti of Lee, and seven grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass on Friday at 10 in St. Patrick's Church, 44 East Central St., Route 135, Natick. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Roxbury. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 at the JOHN EVERETT AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 4 Park St., Natick Common. She leaves her daughters-in-law, Jamie and Shari, and her grandchildren, Laura Shohan, Robert, Richard, Timothy and Thomas Brandt and Anthony and Christopher Shohan.
