John Brennan

John Brennan, 59, of Maple View Drive died Saturday at home after a long illness. Born in New York City on Nov. 22, 1944, son of James and Madelyn Carson Brennan, he was a 1967 graduate of Manhattan College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in marketing. He also earned a master's degree in business administration in advertising communications from City University of New York in 1970. Mr. Brennan had been most recently employed at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in Becket as food service manager. He also had worked for the Appalachian Mountain Club at Mount Greylock as facilities manager, Berkshire Theatre Festival as executive chef and dining manager, and DeSisto School in Stockbridge as director of food services. Before moving to the Berkshires, he was employed by Joseph E. Seagrams and Sons Inc. in New York and Xerox Corp. in New York and Rochester. He enjoyed baking, taking pictures of the Berkshires, critiquing area restaurants, graphic design, art, reading, drafting and construction. He and his wife, the former Mary Ellen Loughlin, were married Jan. 19, 1991, in St. Helena's Chapel in Lenox. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, John Brennan Jr. of Pittsfield; a stepson, Sean Loughlin of Tallahassee, Fla.; two brothers, James Brennan of Paramus, N.J., and Robert Brennan of Fairfield, Conn., and a granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for John Brennan, who died Dec. 6, 2003, will be Wednesday at 9:15 from ROCHE FUNERAL HOME in Lenox, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Ann's Church in Lenox. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lee. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. He also is survived by a granddaughter, Jennafer Brennan; a daughter-in-law, Janet Brennan; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Brennan, Helen Brennan and Sue Hoffman; a brother-in-law, Robert Hoffman; his mother-in-law, Helen T. Loughlin, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
