Carol Bernice Berti

Carol Bernice Berti, 74, of 46 Outlook Ave. died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital after a short illness. Born in New Hampshire on Sept. 7, 1929, daughter of Carl and Mae Tenczar Jaeschke, she was a graduate of the former Adams Memorial High School. She had resided in Cheshire for many years. Mrs. Berti was the librarian at Cheshire Elementary School from 1969 until her retirement in 1995. She also taught music at the school. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cheshire, where she sang with the choir. She enjoyed playing bingo, crafts, flower gardening and reading. Her husband, Harry J. Berti, whom she married July 1, 1950, died May 31, 1998. She leaves two sons, Bryan H. Berti of Adams and Bruce C. Berti of Cheshire; two brothers, Wayne Jaeschke of Westchester, Pa., and Charles Jaeschke of Escondido, Calif., and a granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Carol B. Jaeschke Berti, 74, who died Dec. 8, 2003, will be conducted Thursday at 11 at First Baptist Church of Cheshire by the Rev. Linda Shaw, pastor. Burial will be in the spring in Cheshire Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Adams Ambulance Fund, both in care of DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, 121 North State Road, Cheshire, MA 01225. Mrs. Berti is lovingly survived by her adored granddaughter, Christianna M. Berti.
