Alexander Scott Brown

Alexander Scott Brown, 67, of 72 Richardson St. died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Adams on Feb. 13, 1936, son of Alexander Brown Jr. and Ethel Kleiner Brown, he was educated in Adams schools. Mr. Brown was employed with the former Jones-Beloit Co. in Dalton for five years, retiring when the company closed in 1999. He also had been employed by Aladco from 1952 until 1974, then by GE in Pittsfield until 1992. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Adams, the Hoosac Valley Motorcycle Club, the Sno-Drifters, the Berkshire County Deputy Sheriffs Association, Adams Civil Defense, Adams Ambulance Service and the Citizens Band and Cheshire Rod and Gun clubs. He and his wife, the former Nancy Lynn Schwarzer, were married May 23, 1975. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Richard Brown of Atlanta, David Brown of Adams and Scott Brown of Cheshire; two stepsons, Gary Novak of Cheshire and Todd Novak of Adams; a daughter, Diane Sowle of Dalton, a sister, Judith Kurley of Adams, and 11 grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Eucharistic service for Alexander Scott "Scotty" Brown, who died Dec. 8, 2003, is planned for Monday, Dec. 15, at 11 in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Adams, followed by inurnment in the family plot in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. There will be no calling hours. Donations in his memory are suggested to St. Mark's Church at 39 Commercial St., Adams, or through McBRIDE'S FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St., Adams, MA 01220, which is in charge of arrangements. Survivors also include three nieces and eight nephews.
