Alfred Joseph Golonka Jr.

Alfred Joseph Golonka Jr., 74, of 19 Pinehill Terrace died yesterday at Williamstown Commons, where he had resided since Oct. 31. Born in Adams on Sept. 8, 1929, son of Alfred J. Golonka Sr. and Ethelyn Ladabush Golonka, he was a 1949 graduate of the former Adams High School. Mr. Golonka had been employed as a check inspector by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams, retiring after 42 years of service, the last 15 as a section leader. He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church. A golfer, he was a member of the Northern Berkshire YMCA, the Northern Berkshire Retired Men's Club and the National Rifle Association. His first wife, the former Dorothy Ghidotti, whom he married July 7, 1956, died Jan. 3, 1971. His wife, the former Dorothy Blanchard, whom he married Jan. 15, 1972, died Aug. 3, 2002. He leaves two brothers, Donald Golonka of Stockton, Calif., and William Golonka of East Wakefield, N.H., and Bonita Springs, Fla. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Alfred Joseph Golonka Jr., who died Dec. 10, 2003, will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 12, at 1:30 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from noon to 1 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME for FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the St. Francis Church Building fund through the funeral home.
