Mary H. Winters

Mary H. Winters, 71, of 151 Christian Hill Road, Fairview Commons Nursing Center, died there Thursday. She had resided there for about six years. Born in Housatonic on Dec. 21, 1931, daughter of George and Agnes Szlezak Marusarz, she attended the former Searles High School. Mrs. Winters worked at the former Monument Mills, at Star Bakery, at several local nursing homes as a nurses' aide and in private homes as a home health care assistant. She also was employed as a mail clerk at the Marian Center in Stockbridge and as a kitchen assistant for the Marian Fathers' summer camps. She was a former communicant of All Saints' Church and enjoyed cooking and baking. Her former husband, Edwin G. Winters Sr., died March 25, 1997. She leaves a daughter, Sharon Driscoll of Great Barrington; two sons, Edwin G. Winters Jr. of New Hartford, Conn., and Robert Winters of Simsbury, Conn.; a brother, Michael Marusarz of Dundee, N.Y.; a sister, Nellie Skorusa of Dundee, and a granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial Mass for Mary H. Winters, who died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, will be celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 10 at All Saints' Church by the Rev. Anthony Jutt, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy in Mary's name may be made to the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad in care of BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230, which is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her son-in-law, James Driscoll; her daughters-in-law, Gail Winters and Joyce Winters; a granddaughter, Amy Winters; a niece, Carol Marusarz; a nephew, Michael Skorusa, and many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by seven brothers and a sister.
