Jeanette L. Perry

Jeanette L. Perry, 76, of 45 North St. died Saturday evening at North Adams Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Adams on May 21, 1927, daughter of Adelard and Zephelina Pelky Levesque, she was a graduate of the former Notre Dame School and, for a short period, attended St. Anne's Novitiate in Quebec. Mrs. Perry was employed by Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown, retiring in 1985. She also had worked for the former L.L. Brown, Sprague Electric and Wall-Streeter Shoe companies and the Berkshire Stationery Outlet. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas in Adams and a teller for many years for the weekly Notre Dame bingo games. A coloratura, she took lessons with an Italian instructor. She enjoyed opera and performed at age 16 on several stage mediums in the area. She also enjoyed cooking and collecting recipes. She and her husband, Francis C. Perry, were married July 18, 1963, in Notre Dame Church. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Stephen D. Andrews of Kapolei, Hawaii; two daughters, Roberta J. Johnson of North Adams and Katherine A. Weeden of Adams; a sister, Dorothea E. St. Hilaire of Adams, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial in celebration of Jeanette L. Perry's life will be Thursday, Dec. 18, at 10 in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 at MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St., Adams. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Fund through the funeral home. She also leaves nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Maurice Levesque.
