Carmella Mary Rivard

Carmella Mary Rivard, 91, of 33 Second Ave., Pine Valley Park died yesterday at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield, where she had resided for the past three weeks. She had resided in Cheshire for 27 years. Prior to moving to Cheshire, she had been a longtime resident of Pittsfield. Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 11, 1912, daughter of Giovanni and Natalina Cimini DiMaleo, she attended local schools. Primarily a homemaker, she had worked for the former Berkshire Woolen Mill and the former Elmvale Worsted Co. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church in Pittsfield and a member of its Ladies of St. Anne Guild. An avid bowler, she had been a member of the Italian-American Women's and Eagles bowling leagues. Her husband, Napoleon E. Rivard, whom she married June 25, 1932, died Feb. 17, 2000. She leaves a son, Richard "Lefty" Rivard of Chandler, Ariz.; two sisters, Lena Schnopp of Taunton and Lucy DiNicola of Pittsfield, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Carmella M. Rivard, 91, who died Dec. 18, 2003, will be Monday, Dec. 22, at 8:30 from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at Notre Dame Church, celebrated by the Rev. Kishe V. Max, parochial vicar. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 7:45 to 8:30 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Notre Dame Church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, both in care of the funeral home. Mrs. Rivard is also lovingly survived by her daughter-in-law, Jennie Rivard, her three grandchildren, Air Force Sr. Master Sgt. Rick E. Rivard, Tony Rivard and Maria Fleger, and also by two great-grandchildren, Drew and Dustin Fleger, also by several nieces and nephews.
