The Rev. Cyril A. LeBeau Jr.

The Rev. Cyril A. LeBeau Jr., 80, of 30 Julio Drive, Shrewsbury, formerly of Cheshire, died yesterday at St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester. Born in Cheshire, son of Cyril A. LeBeau Sr. and Stella OstrabinskiLeBeau, he graduated in 1941 from the former Adams High School. He attended St. Anselm's College in Manchester, N.H., and St. Charles' Seminary in Maryland before receiving his bachelor's degree in 1945 from St. Mary's University in Baltimore and his bachelor's degree in theology in 1948 from its seminary. He was ordained in 1948 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany, N.Y., by Bishop Edmund D. Gibbons. He celebrated his first Mass in St. Mary's Church and was assigned to St. Patrick's Church in Hinsdale as an associate pastor. He entered the Army Chaplain's Corps in 1951 and served with the 1st Infantry Division Germany with the rank of lieutenant. Father LeBeau retired in 1993 after nine years as associate pastor at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Worcester. He had been pastor at a number of churches, including St. Roch's in Oxford, St. John's in Worcester, St. Patrick's in Rutland, Vt., and St. Aloysius' in Rochdale. He also was associate pastor at Our Lady of Angels, Sacred Heart Church in Hopedale, and Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Worcester, where he also was administrator. He worked at the Urban Ministry Commission in Plumley Village in Worcester and, before the service, was an associate pastor at Our Lady of Angels in Worcester, and chaplain at the former Our Lady of the Elms, now Elms College, in Chicopee and the Knights of Columbus in Hawley. He leaves several nephews, a niece. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The Funeral Mass for the Rev. Cyril A. LeBeau, who died Jan. 12, 2004, will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church by Bishop Daniel P. Reilly. Calling hours will be today, Jan. 13, from 6 to 8 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 Cambridge St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 596 Cambridge St., Worcester, MA 01610. CALLAHAN BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester, is directing the arrangements.
