Victoria "Vickie" A. Ptak

Victoria "Vickie" A. Ptak, 92, former longtime resident of Taconic Avenue, died yesterday at Laurel Lake Assisted Living Center in Lee, where she had resided for three years. Born in Housatonic on March 23, 1911, daughter of Valdislaw and Valeria Dymek, she attended local schools. Mrs. Ptak owned and operated a beauty shop on Main Street from the early 1950s until retiring in 1975. She was a communicant of All Saints' Church in Housatonic and St. Peter's Church in Great Barrington, and was a member of their Rosary societies. She was a volunteer at the former St. Peter's Parish Hall bingo games. Active in community charities, she did volunteer work and visited nursing homes, where she would do the residents' hair. Her husband, Frank Ptak Sr., whom she married in 1929 in All Saints' Church, died in 1978. She leaves a son, Francis Ptak of Staten Island, N.Y., three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Vickie A. Ptak of Great Barrington died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004. She was a kind, thoughtful, hard-working, compassionate woman who always had time to help out other people, and loved to bake, cook and be with her family and other people's children. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 12, at 10 at All Saint's Church, Housatonic, by the Rev. Anthony J. Jutt, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 9 to 9:30, prior to the service, at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, Great Barrington. She also is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Ptak; three grandchildren, John, Jeffrey and Christopher Ptak, and five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Caitlin, Emma and Tess. She was predeceased by five brothers, Vincent, Raymond, Francis, Walter and Stanley Dymek, and three sisters, Regina Guiffrida, Virginia Feldhaus and Sophie Rodowitcz.
