Rose M. Keefner

Rose M. Keefner, 74, of 899 South Main St. died yesterday at Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in New York City on April 25, 1929, the daughter of Charles and Florence Kiss, she attended schools there. She moved to Great Barrington in 1946. While in Great Barrington, she was first employed as a health care assistant for Berkshire Meadows and Vesper Hills. She moved to Melbourne, Fla., where she lived from 1971 to 1980 and worked at the Bonavita Nursing Home. She returned to Great Barrington for 11 years, then to Florida from 1991 to 1999, when she returned again to Great Barrington. She enjoyed playing bingo, reading and animals. She leaves four sons, Glenn Keefner of New Marlboro, Kenneth Keefner and Gerald "Jerry" Keefner, both of Great Barrington, and Timothy Keefner of Stratford, Conn.; a sister, Barbara Brazzeli of Winsted, Conn.; a brother, Francis Kiss and five grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Service for Rose M. Keefner, who died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, will be Saturday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Daniel Papineau, M.I.C., officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy in Rose's memory may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society or the Diabetes Association, c/o the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She leaves her five grandchildren, Kelley, Sharie, Heather, Kortney and Rachael Keefner.
