Herman C. Brown

Herman C. Brown, 86, of 109 Housatonic St. died Saturday at Laurel Lake Center in Lee, where he had resided for two years. Born in Waterford, N.Y., on Sept. 20, 1914, son of Richard and Lorena Coles Brown, he spent his younger years in Syosset, N.Y., and attended schools there. He moved to Lenox in 1990. Mr. Brown moved to East Chatham, N.Y., in 1947, where he owned and operated Herman C. Brown Plumbing & Heating. He retired in 1975 and moved to Pittsfield. His first wife, the former Gladys Valentine, died in 1993. His wife, the former Lucy Monterosso, died in 1981. He leaves a son, David Brown of Burlington, Vt.; two daughters, Barbara J. Wilson of Ghent, N.Y., and Brenda E. Brown of Fort Myers, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 2 at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lee. KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee is in charge of arrangements.
