Michael Dennis Donovan

Michael Dennis Donovan, 22, of 67 Baldwin Ave., a junior at the University of Massachusetts in Boston, died at his apartment in Brighton Friday evening after a brief illness. Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 23, 1981, son of Dennis M. Donovan and Susan A. Lubaof Pittsfield, he was a 1999 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. At UMass, he was majoring in psychology. Besides his father, of Atlanta, and his mother, of Pittsfield, he leaves a sister, Amy Donovan of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his stepfather, Brian Poopor of Pittsfield;his stepmother, Laura Donovan of Atlanta; his paternal grandparents, Frank and Blanche Donovan of Pinellas Park, Fla.; his maternal grandparents, Stanley and Marcella Luba of Gardner; and his step-grandparents, Janice and Robert Weaver of Stevens Point, Wis., and Edmund Poopor of Dalton. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Michael D. Donovan will be buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be a private family service celebrating Mike's life, which will be officiated by the Rev. John J. Varley, pastor of St. Teresa's Church. There will be no public calling hours. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Mike is lovingly survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, and by his girlfriend, Kaylyn Smith of Boston. Michael was a young man who enjoyed being in the company of others; he had a wonderful sense of humor and a smile that could light up a room. Mike loved life, and the time he spent with family and friends was very special. Although he is no longer with us, he would love to be remembered for his zest for life and happier times. May those special memories help all who knew him to remember how blessed we were to have shared his life.
