Helen Stalker

Helen Stalker, 86, of Humphrey Street died Saturday at Laurel Lake Center, where she was admitted last week. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 7, 1917, daughter of Gustav and Elina Kouvnen Mintz, she was a longtime resident of South Berkshire and attended schools in Sheffield. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed camping, playing cards and listening to country western music. Her husband, Paul Stalker, whom she married Feb. 14, 1939, in North Egremont, died in September 1995. She leaves a son, Alton Stalker of Great Barrington, and a sister, Lila Paul of Sheffield. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mrs. Helen Mintz Stalker, who died Feb. 7, 2004, will be conducted tomorrow, Feb. 10, at 11 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME by Pastor Charles VanAusdall of First Congregational Church. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
