Rose M. Burns

Rose M. Burns, 76, of 2 School St., Hatfield, a former resident of Pittsfield, died Sunday at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton. Born in Siderno, Italy, on May 27, 1924, daughter of Giuseppe and Teresa Sgambelluri Pedulla, she emigrated to the United States and settled in Pittsfield, where she attended schools and was a 1929 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She moved to San Diego in 1977, and returned to the Berkshires in June 2000. She settled in Hatfield in August 2000. Mrs. Burns attended St. Joseph's Church in Hatfield. An accomplished cook, she enjoyed making meals and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling throughout the country, doing arts and crafts, and reading. She leaves a daughter, June M. Weller of Pittsfield; a son, David T. Burns of Pittsfield; a brother, Bruno J. Pedulla of Riverside, R.I.; two sisters, Mary R. LaValley of Greenfield and Josephine Condron of San Diego; eight grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. A daughter, Sharon L Burns, died Feb. 6, 2000. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Leah Burns, Michael Weller, Erica Wynn, Matthew Weller, Timothy Burns, Laura Weller, Richard Andretta and Tino Burns, and her great-granddaughter, Teaira Boone. There are no calling hours. A Service of Remembrance will be held Friday at 1 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family has requested that no flowers be sent.
