Wilma Nicholson

Wilma Nicholson, 84, of Mountain View Terrace, died Friday at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Born in Lynn on April 13, 1919, daughter of Frank A. and Edith T. Haines Legro, she attended schools there. She moved to Lee in 1993. A homemaker, Mrs. Nicholson was a member of East Congregational Church in Springfield. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening. She leaves her husband of 63 years, Raymond E. Nicholson; two sons, Thomas D. Nicholson of Springfield and David M. Nicholson of Southwick; a daughter, Gail N. Schmidt of Lee, with whom she made her home; a brother, Frank Legro Jr. of Marblehead; two sisters, Edith O'Connor of Lynnfield and Frances Atkins of Cape Coral, Fla., eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A private funeral for Wilma Nicholson, who died Feb. 6, 2004, was held yesterday, Feb. 10; burial was in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Springfield. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to HAFEY FUNERAL SERVICE. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. For guest book, visit www.bhrfh.com. She also leaves her daughters-in-law, Linda R. of Springfield and Linda J. of Southwick, and her son-in-law, Ralph Schmidt. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Benford.
