Simone Yvonne Wolcott

Simone Yvonne Wolcott, 82, of Hyannis, formerly of Great Barrington, died Wednesday at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. Born Dec. 1, 1921, in Sherbrooke, Quebec, to Napoleon Paul and Rose Marie Nault Mercier, she immigrated to Great Barrington with her family at age 4. She then was raised by Arthur and Harriet Goslee. She was a graduate of the former Searles High School. Following high school, Mrs. Wolcott worked for the Visiting Nurse Association. She moved to Cape Cod in 1962 and in 1974 began working for the Cape Cod Standard Times in the mail room and the circulation department. She worked for the newspaper for 20 years. Mrs. Wolcott enjoyed traveling throughout New England and made frequent visits to the Berkshires. She enjoyed working outdoors, candlepin bowling, watching golf, county fairs and outdoor activities. Mrs. Wolcott was an active member of First Baptist Church in Hyannis. She was the former wife of Stanley T. Wolcott. She leaves two sons, Thomas H. Wolcott of Harwich and Timothy G. Wolcott of Dennis, and four grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Simone Yvonne Mercier, 82, of Hyannis, on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004. Former wife of Stanley T. Wolcott; mother of Thomas H. Wolcott of Harwich and Timothy G. Wolcott of Dennis. Grandmother of Katharine, Tyler, Jeff and Rebekah. A funeral service will be held in First Baptist Church of Hyannis on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 10. Friends may call at DOANE, BEAL & AMES, 729 Route 134, South Dennis, on Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 5 to 8. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, South Dennis.
