Anna Thompson

Anna D. Thompson, 91, a longtime resident of North Pownal, Vt., died yesterday at Hillcrest Commons Nursing Home. Born in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., on Sept. 17, 1909, daughter of Joseph P. and Mary Gannon Millett, she attended schools there and also Troy Business School. In earlier years, she had been employed by Warren Wire in Pownal as a laboratory technician. She retired from General Cable in Williamstown. Mrs. Thompson was active in the Bennington County Democratic Party. She enjoyed gardening. Her husband, Joseph H. Thompson, whom she married Jan. 30, 1929, in Hoosick Falls, died Oct. 14, 1976. Survivors include four daughters, Joan Montgomery of Singer Island, Fla., Janet Tornabene of Pownal, Joyce Campbell of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Judith Martin of Pittsfield; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, John J. Thompson. The funeral will be Wednesday, April 11, with a prayer at 9:30 from Mahar & Son Funeral Home, and from Sacred Heart-St. Francis de Sales Church at 10, where a Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 when the family will be in attendance. A Vigil Service will be offered tonight. Burial will be in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery, Pownal, Vt. She was also predeceased by two grandsons, Reginald Hervieux and Patrick Trottier. Should friends desire, contributions may be made to the Hillcrest Commons Nursing Home Activities Fund for the Alzheimer's Unit through the office of the funeral home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
