Mildred A. "Millie" Owens Larkin

Mildred A. "Millie" Owens Larkin, 88, formerly of 909 Main St., died yesterday at Timberlyn Heights Nursing Center. Born in Copake, N.Y., on Oct. 15, 1915, daughter of Raymond and Meta Harvey TenBroeck, she was a 1933 graduate of the former Searles High School. She moved to Holiday, Fla., in 1972, and returned to Great Barrington in 1984. Mrs. Larkin was employed as an office manager for the former Dresser Products, retiring in 1972. She also had been a teller and head bookkeeper at the former Mahaiwe Bank. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Church. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and was a Red Sox and Celtics fan. Her first husband, Vincent Owens, whom she married Nov. 11, 1933, died Jan. 14, 1965. Her husband, Charles Larkin, whom she married Feb. 10, 1968, in St. Peter's Church, died Dec. 11, 1983. She leaves a son, William Owens Sr. of Great Barrington; a daughter, Marlene "Tootie" Gorham of Great Barrington; a brother, Clifford TenBroeck of Lakeland, Fla.; three sisters, Hazel O'Hara of Copake, Minnianna VanDeusen of North Egremont and Helen Medici of Hawthorn, N.J., five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Mildred A. Larkin, who died Monday, March 8, 2004, will be Friday, March 12, at 9 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in St. Peter's Church by the Rev. Daniel Papineau, MIC, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 11, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy in Millie's memory may be made to the St. Peter's Ramp Fund or to the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Service, in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She leaves her five grandchildren, Kimberly Shaw, William Owens Jr., Levi Owens and Raymond and Ann Marie Gorham, and a great-granddaughter, Ashlee Shaw. She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth.
