Paul Joslyn Chrzanowski

Paul Joslyn Chrzanowski, 57, of State Road died Friday at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, Maryland. He was returning from his home in Florida. Born in Great Barrington on July 31, 1946, son of Gladys Marie Joslyn Chrzanowski of Great Barrington and the late Herman Chrzanowski, he was a 1965 graduate of the former Searles High School. Drafted into the Army in 1968, he served with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam in 1969, earning the rank of sergeant. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Distinguished Service and Air Combat medals for his actions at the Battle of Hamburger Hill. Mr. Chrzanowski was a civil engineer with the Massachusetts Highway Department, retiring in 2002 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed his time at his vacation home in Florida. Besides his mother, he leaves a daughter, Jill Kane Rawlings of Great Barrington; a son, Matthew Joslyn Chrzanowski of Pittsfield; two brothers, Herman Chrzanowski Jr. of Great Barrington and Peter Mark Chrzanowski of Apple Valley, Minn., and his fiancée, Diana Schnopp of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Paul Joslyn Chrzanowski, a lifelong resident of Great Barrington, died Friday, March 5, 2004, at Harford Memorial Hospital in Maryland. He was on his way back from his home in Florida. Funeral services will be private. The public is invited to a military burial today, March 11, at 2 at Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington.
