Andrew S. Gonska

Andrew S. Gonska, 91, of 299 Lenox Ave. died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Housatonic on July 30, 1909, son of Jacob and Frances Piontek Gonska, he attended schools there. Mr. Gonska was employed by GE as an assembler for 35 years before retiring in 1972. Before that he worked at the Red Lion Inn and sold insurance for Metropolitan Life. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of its choir. He was also a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs, and of the Polish National Alliance in Housatonic. He and his wife, the former Helen Sadlowski, were married May 27, 1933. Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Phyllis Bombard of Southwick, Patricia Gaudette of South Daytona, Fla., and Kathleen Parsons of New Alexandria, Pa.; a son, Andrew S. Gonska of Dalton; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. Services will be Thursday at 10:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Holy Family Church celebrated by the Rev. Eugene Suszek, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery in Housatonic. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 8. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Church in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield 01201. Mr. Gonska leaves three sons-in-law, Harold Bombard, Joseph Gaudette and Mel Parsons, and a daughter-in-law, Silvana Gonska.
