Mary L. O'Neill, 91
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Mary Louise O'Neill, 91, of 26 Gallup St. died Monday, Dec. 18, 200O, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on May 16, 1909, a daughter of William and Zoe Lavigne Cheney, she attended schools in North Adams.
Mrs. O'Neill was employed for 23 years at the former Sprague Electric Co., retiring in 1971. She was earlier employed for 25 years by the former Hooac Mills.
She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and she loved to play bingo.
Her husband, William R. O'Neill, whom she married on June 18, 1927, in the former Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church, died on July 22, 1980.
She leaves three daughters, Grace Scarfone and Frances Shirley Unsworth, with whom she made her home, both of North Adams, and Florence Bishop of Stamford, Vt.; two sisters, Irene Rowley and Florence "Flora" Lafave, both of North Adams; her daughter-in-law, Madeline Zona O'Neil of North Adams; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, William Thomas O'Neil, on Sept. 18, 1986; her sister Dorothy "Dora" O'Neill on Jan. 16, 2000, and brother, William Cheney, on Oct. 20, 1998, and her grandson Kevin William O'Neil in 1988.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. O'Neill will take place Wednesday morning at 10:15 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by at Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested for the Village Ambulance Service, the North Adams Ambulance Service or the charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.
