Margaret M. Haley

Margaret M. "Marge" Haley, 78, of 182 Ashuelot St. died yesterday at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center. Born in Schuylerville, N.Y., on Dec. 16, 1922, daughter of William and Anna Cantwell Haley, she was educated there and graduated from Schuylerville High School. She came to Pittsfield and was a graduate of the former St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing. She was first employed in the offices of Dr. Byron Porter. She then worked for the former Hillcrest Hospital, retiring in the early 1980s. A communicant of St. Agnes' Church, Miss Haley was a member of the St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. An avid sports enthusiast, she enjoyed watching her family's athletic events around the country. She enjoyed the beaches in Maine and Cape Cod and productions at the Stockbridge, Williamstown and the MacHayden theatres. She leaves a brother, Thomas Haley of Shuylerville. She is survived by her dear friend of 60 years, Mary E. Kirby of Dalton, and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be Thursday from 3 to 6. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:15 from the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Agnes' Church with the Rev. John A. Koonz, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
