Florence R. Cummings

Florence Rose Cummings, 83, of 227 Franklin St., Franklin Street Apartments, died yesterday at Willowood Health Care Center in North Adams. Born in North Adams on Dec. 27, 1917, daughter of Arthur and Rosanna Lemoine Robert, she attended local schools, including the former Notre Dame School. She was first employed at the former Kronick Coal Co. in North Adams for several years. She was last employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for more than 40 years, retiring in 1985. Mrs. Cummings was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She was a member of the Clarksburg Senior Club, AARP, the North Adams Garden Club, the Sprague Electric Retirees, Quarter Century and Gold Card clubs. She was also a member and past president of The LeCercle Francais Club in North Adams and a member of the Jollee Circle Club, also in North Adams. She leaves her husband of 31 years, John Nagle Cummings, whom she married Aug. 15, 1969, in Adams; a son, Thomas Richards Jr. of North Adams; two brothers, Bernard Robert of North Adams and Arthur J. Robert of Oxford; two sisters, Irene Fischlein of Colrain and Annette Duprat of North Adams; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Services will take place Thursday at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, are Wednesday from 4 to 7. Memorial donations are suggested for the St. Francis Building Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.
