Anna A. Donald

Anna A. Donald, 98, formerly of 15 Pomeroy Ave., died Saturday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, where she had resided for four years. Born in Newburgh, N.Y., on Dec. 8, 1902, daughter of Carl A. and Sophie Carlson Anderson, she was a 1923 graduate of Pittsfield Commercial High School. Mrs. Donald was employed as a bookkeeper at Elmvale Worsted Mill and E.D. Jones Beloit Co. from 1955 to 1965, and as the financial secretary at Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years, retiring in 1983. She was an active member and volunteer at Zion's Church, and a member of the Collina chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed walking. Her husband, David H. Donald, whom she married Sept. 20, 1929, died in February 1953. She leaves a daughter, Virginia A. Ferry of Pittsfield, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 2 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield by the Rev. Peter D. Boehringer, pastor of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 1 to 2. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Memorial and Special Gifts Fund at Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.
