James M. Zorbo

James Michael Zorbo, 55, of Battle Creek, Mich., formerly of Pittsfield, died Saturday at home. Born in Pittsfield on July 2, 1945, he was the son of Anthony and Eunice Scalzi Zorbo. He graduated from Pittsfield High School and received a bachelor's degree in business and marketing from Bryant College in Smithfield, R.I., where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Mr. Zorbo was a member of the National Guard. He was employed by Procter & Gamble and Salada Tea Co., and was the director of human resources for Kellogg's in Battle Creek. He was also the founder and president of The Zorbo Co. He was a member of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church in Battle Creek and was on the vestry. He was also a member of the Battle Creek Country Club and past president of the Chesterfield Club. Mr. Zorbo received a national award in 1985 for the United Way Campaign, "Reaching Our Peak in Battle Creek." He was Michigan state president of the Order of the Sons of Italy in America, and was a board member of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Association, a member and past president of Club Italla, president of the Lakeview High School football Touchdown Club and founder and president of the Kalamazoo College Touchdown Club. Mr. Zorbo was involved in the junior high mentoring program and earned numerous other awards and accomplishments. He also enjoyed playing golf. He and his wife, the former Lorraine Cangelosi, were married May 31, 1975, in Scotch Plains, N.J. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, James Zorbo Jr. and Jeffrey Zorbo, both at home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 at SHAW FUNERAL HOME, 2838 Capital Ave. SW, Battle Creek, Mich., with Dr. Michael Comer officiating. Interment will be private. Friends may call from 5 to 8 today at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Kalamazoo College Touchdown Club or the Art Center of Battle Creek. He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Powers.
