ROBERT J. CHARCZUK

Robert J. Charczuk, 50, of West Stockbridge died December 23, 2000 at Berkshire Medical Center after a five year battle with non Hodgkins Lymphoma. Born on December 9, 1950, in Oceanside, NY, he was the son of William and Frances (Gronroos) Charczuk. He grew up on Long Island and graduated from the Southside High School, in Rockville Center. After attending the New York Institute of Technology, Mr. Charczuk accepted a position at the interior design firm of Griswold, Heckel, and Kelly, in New York City. In 1982, he and his wife, Mary Howard, founded the firm of Howard/Charczuk Associates, practicing office planning and design. Together they designed over one million square feet of office space, with the latest project being the interiors of the offices of Berkshire Hematology/Oncology on Dan Fox Drive, Pittsfield. In 1998, Mr. Charczuk began performing at various clubs in the area. He played guitar at the Lion's Den, the North End Restaurant, and at the Old Egremont Club. Robert J. Charczuk is survived by his wife, Mary Howard, whom he married in 1978, at Trinity Church, Lenox, at home; his son William Charczuk, at home, his mother, Frances Charczuk, of Moriches, NY; and his two brothers, Bill, of Morrison, CO, and Paul, of South Hamstad, NY. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church in Stockbridge, at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Massachusetts Memorial Cancer Center, or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230.
