John E. Farina

John E. Farina, 82, of 86 Lincoln St., formerly of 20 Laurel Ave., Lee, died yesterday at the home of his son, John A. Farina of Lee. Born in Lee on April 28, 1919, son of John B. and Mabel Mougin Farina, he attended Lee schools. He served in the Army during World War II. Mr. Farina was employed by Berkshire Gravel Co. and later by the town of Lee as a master mechanic, retiring in the mid-1970s. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Lee. He was a former Little League coach for the Hurlbut team, and also coached the Clark Aiken team in the Babe Ruth League. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. His first wife, the former Virginia DiGrigoli, whom he married Oct. 11, 1941, died June 30, 1994. Besides his son, he leaves his wife, the former Evelyn Farnham, whom he married in June 2000; a sister, Elizabeth G. Navin of Lee; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 9:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7.
