Aaron Burdick Sr.

Aaron Adelbert Burdick Sr., 99, of 30 Phelps Road died Sunday evening at Williamstown Commons in Williamstown, where he had resided for 3 1/2 years. He was a former Florida selectman. Born in Florida on Feb. 25, 1902, son of Jerome and Eloeze Sweet Burdick, he attended local schools. Mr. Burdick was employed by the former Windsor Print Works in North Adams for several years and by the Florida Highway Department. He was most recently employed as a security guard at Yankee Atomic Power Plant in Rowe for two years, retiring several years ago. He was a member and life deacon of Florida Baptist Church and formerly served as town constable. He enjoyed square dancing and calling, and playing the harmonica. He leaves his wife, the former Dorothy M. Briggs; a daughter, Eloise E. Burdick, at home, and seven grandchildren. A son, Aaron A. Burdick Jr., died several years ago. The funeral will be tomorrow at 11 at Florida Baptist Church. The Rev. Irving Mullette, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Florida Church Cemetery. Calling hours at AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams, will be today from 5 to 8. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Florida Baptist Church through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.
