Sandra A. Koning

Sandra A. Koning, 58, of Wilmington died of cancer Tuesday at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. She was the sister of Barbara Stringer of Pittsfield. Born in Carlisle on Jan. 27, 1943, daughter of Lenore Richardson of West Palm Beach, Fla., and the late George A. Richardson, she graduated from Westford Academy in 1961. She was co-owner, vice president, and treasurer of State Electric Corp., electrical construction contractors with large projects, including the Big Dig. After graduation, she was one of the early founders of the League of Women Voters of Westford. She enjoyed gardening and was a past president of the Wilmington Garden Club. She enjoyed reading and spending summers on Lake Winnipesaukee at her summer home. Besides her mother and her sister, she leaves her husband, Ronald Koning Sr., with whom she would have celebrated their 40th anniversary in October; two sons, Ronald Koning Jr. of Ipswich and Jon Koning of Laconia, N.H.; two daughters, Sally A. Cormier of Concord, N.H., and Jennifer Seavey of Wolfeboro, N.H.; a brother, George A. Richardson III of Virginia Beach, Va.; six grandchildren and a great-grandson. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 7, at 10 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Chelmsford. Burial will follow in the family plot in Acton. Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the NICHOLS FUNERAL HOME, 187 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA 01887. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Sandra A. Koning Scholarship Fund may be made to the Reading Co-Operative Bank, Wilmington, or to the Dana Farber Cancer Research Center, 1 Harvard St., Brookline, MA 02146-9795.
