William J. White

William J. White, 75, of 11 Elmvale Place died yesterday at the Berkshire Medical Center skilled nursing unit. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 28, 1925, son of Archie and Rose Flanagan White, he was a 1944 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. Mr. White was employed as a draftsman in the power transformer department of General Electric Co., retiring in 1983 after 35 years of service. He was a communicant of St. Charles' Church, where he was an altar server. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs, the Irish American Organization and the American Legion Pittsfield Post 68. His first wife, the former Margaret Ann Scott, died July 10, 1995. He leaves his wife, the former Jean Woitkowski, whom he married Jan. 13, 1996; three sons, Mark A. White of Pittsfield, David L. White of Oakland, Calif., and Paul White of Lee; two daughters, Kathleen A. White of Pleasant Hill, Calif., and Mariellen Connor of Pittsfield; three stepdaughters, Gail Greenleaf and Judy Giardina, both of Pittsfield, and Jeanne Coughlan of Cheshire; a stepson, William Zimbouski of Pittsfield; two sisters, Linda Roode of Becket and Mary Dunlop of York, Pa.; 18 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be tomorrow, Friday, July 20, at 9:15 a.m. from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Charles' Church, celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be at Dwyer Funeral Home today, Thursday, from 4 to 7. If friends desire, donations may be made to St. Charles' Church or to the National Kidney Foundation in care of DWYER FUNERAL HOME in his memory.
