Benjamin J. Betti, 85
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Benjamin John Betti, 85, formerly of 150 Ashland St., died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington surrounded by his family.
Born in North Adams on Aug. 27, 1926, son of Benjamin F. and Mary Boulger Betti, he graduated from Drury High School and also from what was then North Adams State College.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army.
Mr. Betti first worked as a teacher in the Adams and North Adams public school system. He then joined the family business, the Climax Candy Co., where he worked for many years.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed walking.
He leaves three daughters, Nancy Horan of Easthampton, Susan Montes of Las Vegas and Linda Gliesman of Ashburnham; two brothers, James V. Betti and David P. Betti, both of North Adams; six grandchildren, Jennifer Rivers, Michael Horan, Matthew Horan, Patrick Hurley, Meagan Colbert and Stephen Costa; five great-grandchildren, Hayley, Nicholas and Derek Rivers, Kody and Talan Colbert, and nieces and nephews.
His son, John B. Betti, died on June 24, 1987.
