JOAN P. PEASE

Joan P. Pease, 64, of Williams Road died yesterday morning at home after a five-year battle with cancer. Born in Pittsfield on March 12, 1936, daughter of Irene Rogers Bushey Hover and the late Raymond H. Bushey, she attended local schools and was a 1954 graduate of Pittsfield High School. From 1966 to 1986, Mrs. Pease owned and operated the former Joan's Variety Store in Chester. She was also a bank teller at the former First National Bank in Lee and Otis. She enjoyed spending the summers in Becket gardening and boating at her home on Center Pond and, for the past 15 years, had spent winters in Dania Beach, Fla. She and her husband, Floyd J. Pease Sr., celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary Dec. 31. Besides her husband and mother, of Pittsfield, she leaves two sons, Floyd J. "Lucky" Pease Jr. and Michael R. Pease, both of Becket; a daughter, Beverly J. Scapin of East Otis; two brothers, Raymond Bushey of Lanesboro and Charles Hover of Cheshire; a sister, Beverly Breault of Pittsfield; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Mrs. Joan Pease is also survived by six grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and a great-grandchild. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee. The funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of Kelly Funeral Home.
