Athlete of the Week: Mike Chappell
Mike Chappell is a senior captain for McCann Tech. He plays quarterback and defensive back for the Hornets.This week he helped the Hornets to a 33-18 victory over Franklin Tech by scoring four touchdowns and has also been a big part of why McCann is undefeated with a 4-0 record so far on the season.
In the game versus Franklin Tech, Chappell racked up 105 yards on six rushes, giving him an average of 17.5 yards per carry for the game. Three of his four touchdowns came on the ground, but he was also solid in the passing game, throwing for 104 yards and completing 50% of his passes on the day.
Chappell has been a beast for the Hornets in the running game all season long, averaging 11.1 yards a carry and totaling six touchdowns. He has also been a force on the defensive side of the ball, tallying three interceptions on the year.
