Clayton Leads Wahconah Back to Top of Western Mass

HOLYOKE, Mass. -- Tim Clayton scored the game's first touchdown on the ground and threw for four scores to lead Wahconah to a 46-20 win over Frontier Saturday in the Western Massachusetts Division 7 Championship game.
 
After Frontier came back to tie the game late in the first quarter, 7-7, Wahconah responded with a 36-yard pass from Clayton to Tom Burris to re-establish its lead.
 
Wahconah then shut out Frontier, 17-0, in the second quarter to take control of the game.
 
Clayton through TDs to Dane Campbell and Tom Burris, and Patrick Butler kicked a 43-yard field goal on the final play of the half to make it 31-7.
 
Burris caught another touchdown, and Tanner Hastings ran for a score in the second half.
 
Wahconah (9-1) will meet Central Mass champion Blackstone Valley in next week's state semi-finals. Blackstone Valley (10-0) advanced with a win over Leicester.
